LONG ISLAND BLACK AMERICA DAY COMMITTEE, INC.
Let's Involve Beautiful America In Developing Coalescence"
Liberty Bell

Welcome to LIBA-D COMMITTE, INC.
and the

The Long Island Black American Day Committee, Inc., "founded" in April 1988 is a multiracial, bi-county organization to unify all people.
The Committee is supported by individuals, public officials, concerned organizations and businesses who share a common regard for issues protecting the human rights of all people.

"The committee, airing on Long Island cable, and New York TV networks has attracted" a diverse group of people who, as members, provide volunteer services, financial support, and a grass roots organization to improve racial harmony in our society. The committee has also created several human rights commercials and the
Jelly Bean Theatre Production Series that are successfully airing on Long Island cable TV networks.

Through the use of the JellyBean Theatre Program, the Problem Solving Mediation Techniques Program, the Student Leadership Summit, and other awareness activities in the school districts, we intend to promote and emphasize the importance of human rights education. True to the lyrics of a popular song, "the children are our future." We must work together to "teach them well," so that they may "lead the way" to a brighter tomorrow.

We, together, have come a long way. Now, at the beginning of the new millennium, we must do our part in making a new world where the U.S. can proudly wave it's flag, and its citizens know that it is a nation which is true to the precept that,
"All Men Are Created Equal".

Our everyday efforts are to enhance social justice for all by embracing equality and fairness.

Bringing about racial harmony, cultural enlightenment and sensitivity to diversity are not mere words or phrases. We must become involved. Those of us who care about our fellow humans must join in the fight for anti-bias legislation. We must further avoid turning a blind-eye to the rights of those disabled as well as caring about victims of child and espousal abuse. Of course, the list goes on endlessly, but we must start somewhere.

The mission of the LIBA-D COMMITTEE, Inc. is to strive to protect the rights of all citizens, irrespective of the diversity that exists between people; to foster consciousness of the BLACK AMERICA'S struggles and achievements by empathizing and aiding with the struggles of all nationalities;
to further the continuing need to secure equal opportunities for all minorities through seminars, educational initiatives, and TV and media presentations; to promote and secure human rights on Long Island, in New York State and around the nation; to encourage participation in the annual, bi-county, diversified parade and gala celebration of Long Island Black American Day;
To commemorate the anniversary of the enactment of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution and celebrate the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1866 and subsequent civil rights legislation; to promote and emphasize the importance of human rights education to the younger members of the communities.
We intend to accomplish THE LAST GOAL through the use of the
Jelly Bean Program, the Student Leadership Summit and other awareness activities in the school district.

True to the lyrics of a popular song, "The children are our future". We must work together to "teach them well", so that they may "lead the way" to a brighter tomorrow. We, together, have come a long way. Now, at the beginning of this millennium, we must do our part in preparing to making a world where the U.S. can proudly wave its flag, and its citizens know that it is a nation which is true to the precept that, "all men are created equal".
